The Body as a Wunderkammern

Naturalia and Artificialia

The Wunderkammer, or chambers of wonders, was a part of the noble dwellings or of the upper middle class which, from 1500 onwards, was destined to collect unique or bizarre specimens considered real art objects.

In the collector's room you could see a vast collection of unique objects from the natural world, called Naturalia, or created by man with complicated and secret techniques from all over the world, called Artificialia.

A merge of mirabilia art and body

Puro is a child of the Wunderkammer concept, its walls house hundreds of ex votos and dried plants, the various desks alternate with display cases containing jewels and skulls, and there are also rare ready-made objects and crows in the ceilings.

Puro is at the same time a place where the concepts of mirabilia and Wunderkammer merge with those of body and tattoo, thus creating a union that we could label in the contemporary tattoo category.

a tattoo to reinvent beauty and art

Here the body becomes a collector of works born of the vision and hands of artists from different parts of the world, like a chamber of wonders.

Contemporary tattooing thus becomes a unique and sought-after artistic product, born of the external influences that every tattoo artist has been able to assimilate and learn from his own studies and experiences.

Exactly like an extravagant chamber object of wonders, the sign on the body can mix and reinvent beauty and concepts coming from every form of art and aesthetic vision out of time, making our skin accommodate culture, art, beauty and uniqueness.
